>>3418983For the shoulder hair I cloned the detail on the HF layer, and just painted underneath the HF layer to clean up the leftover grunge. The jawline was pretty tricky. I copy/pasted a clean area of her jaw by her chin, and rotated it and masked it on top of the hair along her jawline. Then I unified the shadows using d&b. I didn't do a perfect job, there's a weird dark line left over if you look closely.
>>3419149Unfortunately this is true. Programming isn't at a level yet where that detail can be recovered.
>>3419174I also dabble in illustration. What drawing and illustration has taught me about color theory/composition/being able to shape the form with d&b is immensely useful in editing. Dodge and burn is the #1 most important technique in high quality editing. All the ads and magazine covers have had hours of d&b to polish the image. Study up on the dual curve method to learn it best. Frequency separation is #2 most important skill. Attaching an old tutorial that explains this. Frequency separation allows you to work on the fine details and the underlying values separately, which is the best way to avoid losing the detail during retouching. You've got a great willingness to improve your eye for editing, keep up the good work. Also nice work catching some of the mistakes I didn't notice in my edit.
