My first camera was the Sony Nex 5n, it cost me £80 for the body used and I adapted on cheap vintage lenses I bought from charity shops. I can recommend it. It's really compact, more so with a pancake lens.

Your best bet is lurking your local classifieds or ebay. Honestly if you're trying to keep weight low while travelling, why not buy something mirrorless like an older Sony Nex or Olympus E-PL? I sold my 5N recently, they go for a song these days and they're still good cameras with full 1080p 60fps video included.
