>>3043348Older film cameras have a threaded hole in the middle of the shutter release which takes a cable release like pic related. You just push the button and it physically pushes the release. Those are universal, there's a million of old ones lying around. Some "retro" styled digital cameras also take this type of release.
Digital cameras almost always have electronic cable releases that plug into a port on the camera or an infrared remote instead. Those are all proprietary and you'll have to buy one that matches your camera.
