Since the camera manufacturers decided to stop making new ultra compacts due to everyone and their brother now using their phones they have gone up in value quite a bit. They are somewhat exotic in todays market. The smallest IXUS cameras like the 100-130 series goes for double what their retail value were over a decade ago.
It would be strange if they did not have data from market research that these things could be a hit if they made updated versions. Just imagine an ZV1 in an ultra compact form factor for instance.
