>>4348688finally developed my first pentax17 roll. i'm pretty split on the thing. They've stuck a nice lens and a solid build on a camera that feels gimped and a film format that feels like it's not worth it outside of fine grain slow films. The camera itself feels very well made, no flex or creak, it's solid, but simultaneously very light and "toy" feeling. The shutter sounds like a disposable camera. the winding mechanism is nice and satisfying as you'd want, but feels more like a meme than actually benefitting anything. From my test roll, when you nail focus and the camera exposes well, it appears the lens is actually quite nice, but zone focusing absolutely ruins it, and being half frame also kills your image if the film is grainy or you develop with a grain amplyfing dev like rodinal, and i did a roll of flic400 (foma respool) in rodinal, probably a horrible combination for a small frame lol. It would probably be much nicer with like, pan F in DD-x or something like that. But it's such a weird camera, it feels very much like a larp box, it's fit and finish is meant to inspire a nice manual camera, but it's fully AE and you can't properly focus the damn thing. I might end up keeping it anyway because i CBA selling things and dealing with retards, but i don't know, it's a fuckin oddball. Many times i felt like i needed more control over the metering and all you get is exposure comp. yeah, i'm not sure even normies that pentax is supposedly aiming this at would be happy with it after a bunch of half rolls with missed focus shots. unless that's the "vibe" nowadays?
