>>4343317My travel setup, and my only setup as I basically only snapshit when traveling, is an A7cII. Been very happy with it, previously I was using an a6300, NEX-6 before that, and NEX-3N if we go further back. I prefer smaller bodies even if paired with a big lens that supposedly render the small body meaningless. I find out it doesn't. The point of an interchangeable lens camera is, well, to change lenses and make the setup as small or as big as I want. Besides I prefer bodies with a rangefinder EVF, I don't like centered ones.
With the A7cII, as there's no Zoom lens that I like on FE yet (20-70 f4 is close to being my dream travel lens, but not quite yet), for the first time I went primes only. It was a big jump for me, my previous traveling setups were always a zoom + one or two primes, with the zoom being the center piece. Turns out going to a "primes only" setup went smoother than I thought. I think I'll continue that way.
As for the lenses, I'm using a 3-combo of 21mm f2.8 Loxia, 35mm f2.0 Sigma, and 90mm f2.8 Sigma. I feel like I'm not missing anything. Worse comes to worst, I use APS-C crop mode to reach intermediate focal lenghts, albeit at a cost.
I had a long debate with myself whether going with the 60mm Sigma or the 90mm one, as I thought 90mm would reach way too far and I'd never use it other than in specific cases, turns out it's been on my camera like half the time, if not more.
You already read this, I also read this, I thought that was a meme, everybody says the same shit, so it has to be a meme. But it's true. Working with primes and set focal lenghts make you see things like you wouldn't otherwise. Even with zooms covering +90mm or more, I never stayed at that focal length other than for a few shots (wildlife or whatever). Once the shot was taken, I would immediately go back to 24mm or whatever. This was a mistake. The 90mm prime make me take shots I wouldn't do otherwise, as I wont swap lens immediately
tl;dr luv dat setup. A revelation.
