At first I couldn't tell if it was above me or just nearby. Loudest crashing sound I've ever heard, the sheer power of it was insane. It was in the middle of the night-- about 1 in the morning, and I still think about how exhilarating it was. It's a good way to counter the occasional boring doldrums of life where you're just bored at the office, I'll think about my exciting times in the mountains and feel less like I wanna KMS.
