Similar to the way, when as a younger-kneed person, I used to walk around nearby subjects twice at different heights each time, to see how my 16mm framing looked best - with the 600mm I did the same thing in my mind, not moving so much, but seeing the world in small, often distant rectangles.
It's an autism you put on like a hat to allow for a different kind of pattern recognition. I still do a similar thing when shooting 70-200mm, but thats less about framing-autism and more about colors and patterns in peoples clothes, movement and general appearance.
The real difference is in ranging your perception.
Art and abstraction are pretty much the same thing.
