it kinda sucks but works ok so long as you don't do anything too crazy like start the software less than 20 seconds after powering the scanner on
invert and levels in gimp gets the colors 95% right
epson 2450 with a full set of film holders. honestly the film holders made a bigger difference than anything, they're cheap plastic junk but so much better than what I was doing before, which was just taping the film onto the glass.
the film holders have registration tabs for some other scanner that mine doesn't have, so I drilled holes into the plastic so it doesn't move around
