This is why most photographers suck, because despite having exposure and focusing being taken care of for them by the camera, the best they can do is follow a preexisting formula without interpretation or expression.
It won't be a "threat" any more than autofocus and autoexposure were to anyone. A sharp, middle-gray exposed, noise-free 100 ISO shot with the lens at its ideal aperture is a technically good picture, but not necessarily an interesting one. What makes a viewer feel something when they look at a picture has always been up to the person holding the camera.
There is beauty in imperfection, and there is more to a good picture than subject matter and image quality. It's the reason Miroslav Tichy can do with a box camera made from garbage and string what most people can't with a camera that's basically a robot.
