I'm not sure how I'm supposed to take macro photos yet, because I seem to be having issues with excessive softness compared to what I'm seeing on Flickr. Maybe it's my Tamron 60mm f/2 not being very sharp when shooting macro (it's really good when the subject is further away). Do most macro photographers crop? I hate cropping my own photos. I've been trying to shoot insects in flight a little, but even at f/8 the focus is just too shallow to catch anything, and I have to put ISO at 3200, which is the maximum I'm ever willing to go with my A77. Not to mention the tiniest gust of wind makes it impossible to compose. I usually shoot burst (12 fps with this camera), aperture priority, manual focus, with no flash for macros. Any advice would be appreciated.
Here's one I'm happy with, though.
