>>3823316Actually I remembered the first scan was from a few months ago when I wasn't even doing what I just described, I think back then I must have just hit the color cast removal key in the histogram toolbox (which still brightens up darker slides, but tends to clip... it's a good "preview" tool). So I went back and rescanned the original slide using the method I described, where I basically just pulled the white point down a little for the scan. This yields a pretty flat scan, but after a little touchup in lightroom it's clear comparing the two that this version has vastly improved shadow detail, which is why it's important you leave that black point at zero when scanning slides.
