With any 24-105 lens you're paying in cash, weight, and size for a little bit of short telephoto in a category of lenses that generally doesn't tend to be very good on the telephoto end, and if they are, they end up being so unwieldy that they exterminate the point of such a lens in the first place (which is travel and general-purpose versatility).
With the 28-70/2.8 you get:
>Speed that is actually decent and won't necessarily make you miss your primes all the time>A significantly lighter and smaller lens than any L zoom, meaning you are more likely to actually use it IRL>Probably way better IQ across the entire range than your 24-105/4-7.1
