I'm testing out some options available to me in the scanner. Grain reduction is one of them. If I can get to a point where I can reasonably quickly make nice enough scans then that'll be nice.
Scanning at home I can just get rolls developed for $5 and scan them myself. And I can scan at resolutions up to about 4800x6800 in 35mm which beats any basic scan from a lab and also beats midrange scans. So I'm saving $10 a roll by doing this.
Economically I don't know if it's worth it since it takes me time to scan. More than $10 worth of my time. But I'm scanning while I'm on the computer anyway so it's not actually that much extra time.
