Invariant = no e-noise change. Variant = worse e-noise the lower you go. Both are illustrated by the R6 since it is mostly invariant but is variant at the bottom end.
Lower ISOs do not improve noise. The additional exposure (shutter+aperture) which usually goes with lower ISOs improves noise.
