>>4043541Happy that I got it, wish I got it in better circumstances. Very exciting to start really getting the shots I wanted of galaxies.
Speaking of, here's a work in progress of M51 that I collected about 6.5 hours of images on over two nights. Extremely happy with this one, subs were at 35 seconds, ISO 800, unguided.
>>4025809I use an Atlas EQG mount for tracking, haven't gotten autoguiding going yet, but I've put in for an ASIAIR to both get cable management and autoguiding+accurate polar alignment.
>>4043548Mount was an Atlas EQ-G which was $1800 at the time, but it's since been discontinued. The equivalent, pretty sure they're even just the same mounts just branded by whoever, is the Sky-watcher EQ6. Telescope is an Orion 8" astrograph newtonian, $600. Needs a coma corrector, for both coma correcting but also to actually get the image in focus because the point of focus is pretty far back. Can't even use eyepieces without it. I went with a Paracorr 2, for ~$400, but you could probably go cheaper on those.
I'm adding on an ASIAIR plus, monochrome guide camera, and guide scope as soon as the ASIAIR gets in stock with the vendor I ordered from. Altogether, $600.
Total for tl;dr is $2800 currently, $3400 in a little bit longer. I've also got 250mm focal length refractor for more wide field things for $800. Used for taking this picture of Orion nebula
