The M6 II is superior in many, many ways but the M50 hits just the right price point. Canon have taken a leaf from Apple's sales methods and released different models at different price tiers to motivate potential buyers into buying higher-end models. But aside from missing many features from their flagship models, the M50 can't accept a tethered intervalometer and its video is still somewhat crippled.
It's ugly but the problem can be linked to the high bump for the EVF. Unfortunately, the camera world has a high volume of retards who refuse to use the LCD screen and demand an EVF. It's nice to see Canon ignored them with the M6 II which is a replacement for both the M6 and the M5 combined.
The M50 takes very good pictures but it's more of a vloggers camera.

It even retailed for a measly $99 at one point when Canon used it to lure in critics to the M system. It's also one of the best all-purpose lenses they've made in decades.

Biggest problem with the M50 is the poor construction which often splits when certain tripod mounts are used (pic related).
