If they say yes (99% of them will say yes) you go ahead and give them some instructions like, standing in a specific spot or a pose, then shoot away. Let them know if you want to take more than 1 so they don't move out of your preferred lighting spot.
I actually photograpped a random girl who wasn't cosplaying, they just had a nice outfit.
Be sure to give them your business card or instagram so they know you're not just gonna jack off to it in your basement.
