>>3514049>Can't you just stop-down meter on AE-1P?stop-down metering, and the stop-down lever itself, on the AE-1 and AE-1P is a clusterfuck. being shutter-priority, the viewfinder displays the metered aperture f-stop, so if you stop-down the lens you no longer get a meaningful meter reading. to get a proper exposure stopped-down you have to manually set the aperture and shutter speed until the meter display led/needle is at 5.6, which has a mark next to it called the stopped-down index mark. this doesn't mean the lens is at 5.6 aperture, just that the exposure would be right. it's just a matter or adding/subtracting stops until the meter balances in the middle, but since you can't see neither the currently selected aperture nor shutter speed it gets quite troublesome. it's easier to just preset the aperture on the lens and mentally keep track of just the shutter speed dial while matching the metered aperture to the one preset.
>>3514060dunno man, can't really give you a proper general answer as my FD experience is limited to the 28/2.8 and 50mm in 1.8 and 1.4. however, even though I'm a minoltafag and I'm really happy with their lenses, I gotta say the nFD 50/1.4 is an awesome lens, crazy sharp at larger apertures compared to the minolta counterparts. the FD 28mm is pretty much on par with the minolta MD.
