It's the lenses! They had the same, beautiful, gorgeous violet/pink panvision fringing! They used same zooms, used same apertures, all the fucking time!
It's also film stock! Technology consolidated to few manufactures, if not the same, at least ending with similar results.
It's also the light! It was the end of extravagant expenses in Hollywood. It was the age of rationalization, they all used the same, harsh, light!
