How is the EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM regarded around here? I just picked up a used one and did some shooting with it today. Photos at 300mm were not very sharp.
I know this is kind of a common complaint from beginning wildlife photographers, and I am no expert, but I feel like I had a steady enough hand, I was using an appropriate shutter speed to counteract camera shake and freeze subject motion. These images really should have been sharper.
I am currently troubleshooting AF microadjust and will go back out to do some more shooting tomorrow afternoon if I get a chance, but I've been really disappointed with this lens so far. A few samples to follow:
