What I mean is that in photography the freedom of subjects to choose from depends on your life circumstances. If you live in the middle of nowhere with no money for travel then your options are limited. Sure you can do macro photography or even something wacky like light painting but if you would like to photograph mountains or architecture you need to travel to places where these things are. Or what if you have a fascination with industrial buildings? They won't let an amateur photograph these. Or what if you want to photograph celebrities or models? You need to be successful for that.
I am not saying this makes photography bad. Just that it's not for _me_.
