>>4034982Depends. If you do it by yourself it can be a fun project. Mirrorless or P&S are better than DSLR for IR because autofocus also just works in most cases if focusing is not screwed. Find out if the camera is of type where the filter is thin and can be removed without affecting focus or if it needs a replacement piece of clear glass for focusing to work before you open it.
However keeping IR snapping fresh is a challenge. Normal camera is simply better for most subjects and lighting conditions.
(Canon A800 has a type of IR cut filter that does not need replacement.)
