Met with a fuji rep today and got my hands on basically everything in their line up. I see why some of you guys love the X100V so much too. By the way, 90-120 days for new cameras to come out, maybe better. Good luck to you.
My thoughts on the X-T5 coming from the X-T1 and X-T3:
>Build quality
Build quality seems to be slightly diminished. The finish of the metal and the feeling of the dials isn’t as nice on my X-T3. I think they used lighter weight and cheaper materials to save weight and cost. They’re not *bad* but I prefer my X-T3. The three way tilt screen has a small upgrade where the screen can kinda pull out like an airline tray table, the rep wasn’t even aware of that so that was funny. The power on switch is smaller now, and feels almost flimsy. Doesn’t have the positive tactile feeling as then X-T3’s. The exposure Comp dial is movable with your thumb now though, which is a welcome change.
The cog wheel dials seem to be the biggest downgrade of quality; they’re now totally plastic :(
>Grip
The grip feels fine for what it is. Slightly deeper than the X-T3, but when I put on the metal accessory grip it was faaaar more comfortable than I expected. You should certainly budget the grip into your X-T5 purchase.
>EVF and screen
The specs are out there, but the increase of magnification is noticeable side by side with the X-T3. Screen seems slightly better, as it’s a slightly better resolution.
>Autofocus
I put on my 56mm and the X-T5 was a little better with it than the X-T3. Cant say much beyond that but I can say they have implemented the new upgrade well from my limited use.
Verdict:
XT-5 is an awesome starting place if you don’t use fuji and I’m sure it’ll be useful for a decade. The build quality sacrifices are sad to see, but they did a good job keeping the price down in spite of everything going on, and with the upgrades they’ve put in. However, I think I’ll make the switch the X-H2 for a better grip and video.
