>>4127377>>4127518>I don't know the difference between XYZ buying someones product (sensor) and XYZ outsourcing their own sensors manufacturing process to someone else...It's like you engineered, patented and designed your own phone - but then outsourced the manufacturing to someone else who had top notch machinery and access to all the necessary materials to build your phone at cheaper pricing - which cuts down on your manufacturing costs by more than 15-20% as you don't have over a hundred thousand additional costs per month, that you have to spend on shit like tooling, labor, material, overhead, etc., etc...
Sony has the biggest and most capable factories out of any camera manufacturer, they have like 50+, 5-axis CNC machines per every single production line level, on top of them also outsourcing over half of their product parts or entire product pieces to taiwan, china, germany and wherever else... It only makes sense that 90% of other camera manufacturers would outsource their sensor manufacturing to Sony.
(But of course, there are some camera bodies from Nikon, Fuji, Leica and others, which they have just simply, straight up bought Sonys own sensors to put in their cameras...)
