I just bought a Canon APS-C DSLR camera having used fixed lens Sony Cybershots forever. Is it worth buying the "nifty fifty" 50mm 1.8 for general / street photography or is the resulting 80mm-like view too tight? I'm between that and a 24mm 2.8 pancake.
From what I see in examples, the photos with the 50mm tend to look somewhat smoother and have better bokeh but this would require quite a degree of standing back, yes? Would it be easier overall to just go with the 24?
It seems like every time I look up the 24mm example photos they are always very dark and in some way "rougher". Would buy both but I'm a low budget poorfag so if I must get both, which to buy first? Thanks
