I am no pro by any means, but 2700usd wasn't a big deal for me. Got a 50, 100-400, and getting 24-70 next. Should be sufficient for this amateur obsession.
That said, R8 has same sensor as R6M2, and same processor. Its a very very fast camera. Action is pretty good, but you have to be a master of autofocus to not get it confused in some situations. Burst mode is excellent, but outputs giant RAW blobs that need a Canon tool to extract images out of, that part I didn't like, but can live with. I was considering R8, but seeing my wife use lens only IS made me go with R6M2, you have to mess with this camera to get a blurry pic when both lens an body IS are on.
