First off the construction. Making it from a single piece of wood is not the wisest thing IMO, since the grip itself will be pretty weak having the wood's grain running across its lenght. It might just crack off and the camera will miserably fall on the ground. You should make it with a metal baseplate or, if wood is the only option, by joining two pieces of wood.
Second, I think you should address cameras with shit ergonomics (like pic related). So most mirrorless basically.
And yes it should have a tripod mount.
