Astronomy is a popular hobby (professionals just number crunch data). Every night across the globe there are over 9000 thousand people observing and recording the night sky. Using instruments ranging from simple binoculars to huge light bucket telescopes with research grade dedicated imaging sensors attached. Some concentrate on a tiny portion of the sky others wide angle vistas.
Some of these amateurs are actively looking for something that is "unidentified". A new comet, asteroid or distant supernova for example. In the case of comets it gets named after you and there's a cah money prize.
So here's the question: How come non of these thousands of dedicated people report seeing anything remotely "otherworldly"? Seriously I'd like know.
