Anyone who supports the idea of 3D pop, Zeiss pop, or micro contrast is a good person who knows their shit and has actually taken pictures.
Watch any of these people try to explain what 3D pop or micro contrast is and their experience is self evident. If a phenomenon can be described repeatedly using both empirical and scientific language and can measured objectively, it's obviously real.
Every time you see an A/B test for 3D pop or microcontrast, you can see a difference and often the testers use the same parameters.
The only other hobbyist area that has so much pro level knowledge has got to be pro audio.
