Am I memeing myself by buying a higher end point and shoot? I started photography with film SLRs and want to buy a digital. I am used to having full manual controls but I am also not really into swapping lenses or accumulating a bunch of gear. I want something simple but effective, so I have been looking at digital point and shoots like the Ricoh GR and the Sony RX series.
I understand I can buy used DSLRs or something like a Sony a6000 at the same price point. I just like the portability and simplicity of a P+S. If I buy one of the above mentioned point and shoots, am I getting something only marginally better than an iPhone, or something I can make really great photos on?
