>>3249605Mine is sharp and contrasty. The corner are sharp from about f/4 and since I wouldn't do landscape photography wider than f/8 anyway, this is a non-issue. Every test I've seen of the 27mm indicates that it's generally a sharp lens, so I don't believe there is much sample variation either. Is it because the focus speed isn't as good as newer lenses? It's a useful size and focal length. What's not to like?
>>3250633>but sometimes I miss having an aperture ring on it instead of using the back dial.>>3250885>This is actually my main pet peeve on the lens. Not worth getting peeved about the lack of an aperture ring on Fuji lenses. I like the analog aperture dial that you can look at when the camera is off to know your f-stop setting, but about a third of Fuji's lenses don't have that - I'm including all the variable aperture zooms, where you just spin the control on the lens, but still have to look in the viewfinder to know the actual f-stop.
Fuji cameras are still set up in a very streamlined way to control the aperture with the rear dial (on certain lenses) and the shutter speed with the front dial. It's not like you've never used a DSLR before. It's very intuitive to use such a control.
>>3250908>>The 18mm is probably the worst mirrorless lens ever made. You never tried E-mount back when it was still called the Sony NEX, I see.
>>3251015>but it's at least better than the awful 18mm.Why do people hate the 18mm prime? Although I don't own one, this is another mystery to me. Lens tests indicate that it performs well. Photos I've seen taken with it lack obvious flaws. Maybe because of the corner softness wide open? But that seems to be a flaw typical to Fuji's pancakes.
>>3251019I don't believe it's available for sale yet, but most people have commented on the compact size compared to other X-mount standard zooms. Plus, you get a bit of an advantage at the wide end with the 15mm angle of view - significant even compared to the 16-50 or 16-55.
