I have an idea for a camera listen to This. The most common issue with camera bodies is the shutter eventually failing. Barring the battery (which is easily replaceable) the shutter failing is the number reason why people a. People are reluctant to buy used bodies (no pun intended) and b. Repairs cost so much, because taking apart an expensive body requires immense amounts of work and multiple avenues of failure.
So i propose this: A body that has no shutter. The shutter will be in the lens. Or perhaps even a separate module that attaches inbetween the lens and body, but personally just the shutter attached to the lens. Not only would repairs be easier (lenses are easier to take apart) but that means you wont have to send your body for an expensive repair. You could shoot while ur lens is out for servicing.
There is no reason why this cant be done. The technology is right there. Ofc lenses are already digital and computized. And all cameras have hotshoe mounts to talk to the lens for autofocus and aperture priority.
