There is no HUD on their helmets, you're thinking of fighter jets. The purpose of the helmets isn't just protect your head, they also have built in mics and headphones so you can plug into the on board radio and communicate with the crew. There is a visor built in to the helmet so shit's not flying into your eyes, and there's a mount to attach night vision.
