If I'm being charitable, the pools can be good to see what is potentially capable out of a camera / lens. It can be neat to see that a lens can reach a certain level of sharpness, or how the bokeh looks, but not much else. I would only judge what a system is capable of, by looking at the "best" photos, not the average or bad ones. 99% of the gear pools are garbage.
