Polaroid film and their cameras are still superior. While the film is pricey it has a more pleasing look (warmer colours) and the shape looks better than any of the Instax sizes, Mini, Square or Wide. Square is the closest to Polaroid but still smaller without that nice frame.
I use a Polaroid P, it uses 600 film. Found it for £10 new in box in a charity shop. That's about average pricing for a Polaroid 600 camera on the used market. I mostly use it for family photos and important shit. The portrait lens is really awesome, you just line the subject's head in the outline and it works out.
