I had to do this handheld so I couldn't get long enough exposure to make a full circle but I like the fan effect.

You definitely want to turn on the super control panel: http://www.getolympus.com/ca/en/super_control_panel
My usual setup is autofocus at S-AF+MF with focus peaking turned on so I can adjust with the focus ring if the autofocus is a little off. Focus peaking is in the "A" menu under MF Assist.
