going greyscale with IR is a simple way to make it look good
additionally, at night, the camera sensor detects IR essentially as its own color, so OP's pic probably just looks like reddish shit before processing.
If you shoot IR, a channel swap will bring colors back to close to original, but the woods effect will make foliage look bizarre because it reflects IR light.
I shot a couple of these in NYC, all of them are channel swapped, but they're all shot with a D90, 720nm IR filter.
