Longer exposures are also noisier due to noisy light, but the camera will also contribute. Without changing cameras for the sake of low light performance, your options are to add light or accept a dim image.
This photo was lit with a diffuse flashlight, and I still found myself futzing with the low point of the exposure in Rawtherapee to suppress noise.
