I'd like to think I've shot a good variety of focal lengths, and my essentials are in two separate sets.
For work (I do documentary photography), I shoot 24/1.4, 24-70/2.8, 85/1.2 and 125/2.5. All Canon save the last one, but I'd probably go for the Canon 135/2 if I were to replace it.
For fun, I shoot film lenses for a distinct character in rendition. I shoot a Summilux pre-asph 35/1.4 and a Super Takumar 50/1.4.
As an example, white house photographer Pete Souza's kit consists of two 5D3s, 35/1.4, 24-70/2.8 and a 135/2, which makes a lot of sense for his work.
