35mm can be tricky, as it's not as compressed as a 50mm, but also not as wide as 28mm. Someone here once wrote that should be treated as a sloppy 50mm, which works well in most cases, but it can also be used as a slight wide angle.
Check the work by Alec Soth, or Koudelka after his Gypsies series .

35mm 2.5, I'm pretty satisfied with it. Also thought about upgrading it, but the only upgrades that would be worthwhile are either summilux or nokton 1.2.

Considering the price, the CV is a very good lens with only marginal difference in speed. So, sharpness and rendering aside, I'd still say it's OP's best option.
