This post will be extremely autistic so bear with me.
I need some advice regarding DSLR scanning rigs for 35mm and 6x6 formats. I already have a stand and macro lens. Narrowed it down to either the LobsterHolder or Valoi 360 (non-advancer version).
Here are my assessments regarding these products.
Lobster
> + Full kit comes down to 150EUR including CS-Lite, lens hood, masks for every format
> + Many great reviews
> + Film flattening is achieved with clamp and magnets
> - 3D printed plastic
> - No rubber feet, easily nudged and skids around
> - May not be adjustable for alignment with lens
Valoi
> + Non-advancer version comes to 180 EUR, including CS-Lite and lens hoods, 6x6 mask sold separately
> + Adjustable rubber feet (!)
> + Metal construction
> - Film is reported to get caught in the exit port of the holder slot
> - Non-advancer version does not have the screws holding the negative carrier in place
> - S-curve flattening requires uncut rolls + is not good for start and end frames
Anyone in the thread had experience with any of these setups and wish to weigh in? I'm leaning towards the Lobster but not pleased about its cons. If it were metal with adjustable rubber feet it'd be an instant buy.
