Sony has an open mount format, so anyone can make 100% compatible lenses that can take full advantage of what the camera can do. Canon needs reverse engineering by 3rd parties.
The next one is that canon has a history of slightly changing how their lenses work, in an attempt to disable 3rd party lenses. Sigma ef lenses from the 90's still don't work with ef bodies today because of it (hilariously a Sony with a canon adapter works with more EF lenses than any EF mount camera). Having millions of people suddenly be no longer able to use the products they spent thousands on isn't a very good marketing strategy. It's a brand risk that even samyang have decided isn't worth it and have palmed off the few af lenses they did make onto their scuffed rokinon brand.
