No you're right, I buy them because they have good WR construction, an aperture ring, and more than adequate performance
I'll say it, it's much better than the 35, while keeping a lot of its look. (almost like it was somehow intended and that's why we'll never see a 35 1.4 WR)

Maybe Voigtlander's 35 if I want something compact, but I just can't beat the package of WR + modern optics + instant autofocus + almost perfect pictures full open, if my lens has to be a little longer and heavier but I get all that in return, it's very worth it, especially if you know it's gonna end up in the rain or snow
