>>3709206i've been shooting film for a long time. around 2004/2005 when digital was taking over and people were ditching their freezers of film i stocked up on ~500 rolls of professional film (mostly 120 and 220) for a total cost of <$1000. im talking buys like 100 rolls of frozen Portra 220 for $100 shipped. those 500 rolls carried me for nearly 10 years. 10 years where i didn't have to buy a single roll.
well...i ran out around 2015ish. so ive done the same thing. spent 2016-2018 buying deals when i saw them. that entire fridge pictured with ~550 rolls of nearly all professional film has cost me <$1200. the provia and velvia propacks were $25 off b&h. the provia and velvia 120 was $20/pack direct from japan. besides the 35mm e100, nothing in there cost more than $5/roll. im glad i stocked up when i did because Fuji and Kodak BTFO'd everyone recently with their huge price hikes. shooting somewhere between 50 to 100 rolls a year (i'm on my 62nd roll for this year), this current stash will last me for at least 5 years and honestly at the rate film prices are increasing...i may not be restocking in the future.
tl:dr i stock up and then don't buy film for 5+ years.
