Right now, working on Darktable, I start with additional demosaic (Amaze method) and lens correction, then either use exposure function or grab histogram to correct exposure, then check levels and correct if required, sometimes bumb a bit curves (not S shame, rather slight curve upward but still diagonal), then noise removal and finally equalizer tool to sharpen if required (by bumping high frequencies). Like in this one (pretty much similar to one posted already)
Some of you mentioned filters but again, I don't know about it. I do have Corel Paintshop too but I don't find it as comfortable in use (it does have fun functions like skin smoothing) but I can always use both, one after another.
