I had an idea for an online video series to help promote my local zoo. The basic idea is to interview a zookeeper with some of the zoo's educational animals, like Jack Hanna's appearances on Letterman and Johnny Carson. The zoo people I talked with liked the idea, now it's just a matter of planning and properly equipping myself.
What would be the essential gear to achieve decent production values? I'm thinking a daytime shoot (and probably do a bunch of short videos in one afternoon/evening) with a two-DSLR setup, one for wider shots and one for close-ups on the animals.
I know I'm not nearly prepared, with just a Nikon D3100 (doesn't even have an external microphone jack) and a couple of standard primes. I probably won't be the one to actually shoot it -- I have next to no video experience -- but I'd like to if I can.
