I use the histogramm included in the camera for checkinf photos and I now noticed that even if the histogram displays no clipping or overblowing, the RAW files are still overblown. I use darktable on Linux for editing.
What's the reason for this?
The histogram is divided into 4 parts and generally, if the most upper level is in the last quarter, it is well blown out beyond any saving grace in the RAW
The attached image is adjusted for exposure to show how much the highlights are blown out
