I'm sitting here trying to attach 2 food cans together as a focus mechanism for a bare 89mm diameter lens to use for my camera (WIP pic). As far as a guide goes, I just took the old lens apart until I was only left with the front part of the barrel, its single large lens and its focusing mechanism. I taped it to the 12mm extension tube in a way to allow the focus to move freely; as you see in here:
>>3211349The 12mm extension tube just happened to put the lens out just right so that when the lens if fully focused in either direction it falls perfectly within the sensor of the camera. The only thing you need to make sure of is that distance and how you'll be moving the lens to focus on things. Otherwise, you'll get stuck with only 1 focus length like you were in macro mode and you'd need to run back and forth with the camera to focus on things. Another reason it works well enough is the diameter of the lens (62mm)
