>>3859611>>Everybody steals ideas from someoneYes, but the photographers that we call "great" they add their own flavor on top of it. They mix and merge different styles and add their flavor and to find that sweet spot of harmony is extremely hard. This is why the number of great artists is really low.
>just experiment and learn by actually taking photos? No, we're constantly bombarded with images all the time. And we are constantly and unconsciously learning from them. This whole junk aesthetic information is very dangerous for photographers because there is a difference between just images and photographs. We should learn from them because they have did a lot of hard work to polish the art works and aesthetically those are way superior to what you see generally everywhere. Practice and studying always go hand in hand. And if you read or listen to the interviews of great photographers they will always cite their influences. Only ignorant retards think that they exist apart from their influences. If you consoom junk aesthetic information you will create trash work.
